What is the sign of a Good Leader?
(Sermon Excerpts)

The Rev. Dan Morgan
March 10, 2002

What does the Lord require of us as Christians?

He hath shown thee, O man, what is good;
And what doth the Lord require of thee,
but to do justly, and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with thy God.

Micah 6:8

What is the sign of a good leader? It is always one who can follow and obey. And who do you follow? Who is the leader of your life? Is it God? It all depends in whose hands you put your life. If you put yourself in the hands of the Almighty, he can transform you. And He will.

  • A basketball in my hands is a missed lay-up. In the hands of Kobe Bryant, it is a million dollar contract.
  • A golf club in my hands is a dangerous weapon. In the hands of Tiger Woods, it is a marvel to behold.
  • A slingshot in my hands is a child's toy. In the hands of David, it was a giant slayer.
  • Nails in my hands are, at best, useful tools. Nails in the hands of Jesus Christ saved humanity.

If you put yourself in God's hands, He can transform you. You can become a transformer. If you are willing, He will do it. If you are willing, He will do it. It may not be what you thought it would be. It may not bring material riches. But, it will be His plan for your life. However, if you see but do not act, He will find another to take your place. That is precisely what He did when He replaced Saul with David.
